First there was Home – Eerst was er Thuis
It is coming closer! We will be performing our music performance ‘Eerst was er Thuis / First there was Home’ at the Delft Fringe Theatre Festival, at 9 and 12 June! And we are looking forward! 🙂
About ‘Eerst was er Thuis’ / ‘First there was Home’
The music performance ‘Eerst was er Thuis’ is a collaboration between singer-songwriter Stephanie Ruijsenaars (Stefka) and the Palestinian ud-player Amer Shanati (refugee from Syria), Robbert Verweij on trumpet, and Christian ten Hoope on bass.
Four musicians are searching for a lost home. This homeland in your memory that once existed, or hasn’t existed at all. This home you’ve left because it is too dangerous to stay there. This safe place where you’ve stayed all your life, meanwhile the world around you changed, and you can’t find yourself in it anymore.
‘Eerst was er Thuis’ will take the audience through a varied musical landscape, consisting of new music, arrangements of (folk-)melodies, songs and poems that are based in our collective memory.
Musicians: Amer Shanati: ud, vocals, Stephanie Ruijsenaars (Stefka): vocals, piano, Robbert Verweij: trumpet, bugel, percussion, Christian ten Hoope: bass
